Connell Cruise - Getting it right
The David Gresham Record Company in celebration of the company’s 40th Anniversary is pleased to announce the signing of multi-talented solo artist Connell Cruise. Johannesburg born Connell Cruise began playing the piano at the age of 4. His passion grew to such an extent that by the time he was 19 he had obtained his Grade 8 qualification through London’s Trinity School of Music, achieving the highest score for classical music in South Africa.
Connell Cruise has been featured on three compilation albums, won a 2011 Metro FM Music Award for Best Contemporary Urban Gospel Album and a 2012 SAMA Nomination for Best Contemporary Faith Music Album under his belt, the sky is virtually the limit for this rising star.
Not content with just singing and song writing, Connell has taken to the screen; starring in his first short film “Unkown Male” alongside the renowned Marga Van Rooy in 2011, and to television as well; presenting the popular music talk-show "iShine Southern Starz" on Dstv's ONEGospel Channel.
When commenting on his song writing process, Connell says “For me, the music and the melody come quickly, it’s the lyrics I spend days and weeks wrestling with. I desperately want the words to be true and meaningful. I hate compromising truth for a quick cliché or a mindless one-liner.”
His debut solo album with carefully crafted songs is due for release in 2013.
